This month, the Academy Podcast features Dr. Wendy Wright. Her lecture There is Something About Mary explores what Mary means for us in our varied contexts. From Our Lady of Guadalupe to the Mary of Los Angeles Mary, the Mother of Jesus, is very much present in our communities. In her 2015 lecture at a Five day retreat in Nebraska, Wendy opens our eyes to the Theotokos (Mother of God) who bears God for us in the flesh.
Wendy M Wright is Professor Emerita of Theology at Creighton University In Omaha, NE and currently Affiliated Faculty in the Institute for Contemporary Spirituality at Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, TX. A specialist in the Salesian Spiritual tradition she also has written on family spirituality, women and spirituality and the Catholic devotional tradition. Her most recent books are The Lady of the Angels and Her City: a Marian Pilgrimage (Liturgical Press) and Francis de Sales and Jane de Chantal (Pauline Books and Media). She and her husband are parents of three and grandparents of six.
